
Inauguration Day was definitely one for the books for a variety of reasons. Music, like always, plays a huge role in the memorable day. This year, world renowned artists took the chance to use their talents to relay a large message to our great nation. They took the opportunity to reflect and remind us all of who we are and who we are capable of being as a united nation.
During a private mass prior to Joe Biden’s inauguration, Irish concert violinist Patricia Treacy performed for the President Elect and his family and other attendees, starting the day off on the right note.
A regular supporter on President Biden’s campaign trail, Lady Gaga provided a heartwarming rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” which brought tears to many.
Furthermore, Jennifer Lopez performed a musical rendition of “This Land is Your Land” and “America the Beautiful” continuing the wonderful program. She also included a Spanish translation of the final line of The Pledge of Allegiance wowing audience members at home.
Country superstar Garth Brooks performed “Amazing Grace”, asking the country to join him as one united country. His positive outlook and strong performance left the nation in awe.
Later in the evening Tom Hanks hosted the Celebrating America special, a 90-minute show which featured remarks from both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Legendary celebs such as Ant Clemons, Jon Bon Jovi, John Legend, Eva Longoria, Foo Fighters, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, and Kerry Washington all appeared on the special, welcoming a new chapter for our nation. Both Biden and Harris also made positive remarks towards the nation, reminding all of us what the United States of America is really about.
